Few weeks before the new show with David Koma whose presentation moves from London to the Paris Fashion Week, designer Sarah Angoldtook part to the Opera Preview, an event hosted at the English National Opera, with mini opera performances, audience sing along opera and hair/makeup/dress in a full operatic gear. The Ballet Du Grand Theatre de Geneve asked Greek choreographer Antonis Foniadakis to produce and present the Glory show, which opens tomorrow at BFM theatre of the Swiss capital. Designer Tassos Sofroniou sent me some pre-show images of the rehearsals.
I asked the Greek designer to comment on how he worked on this big project and he responded "I designed the costumes with an intense minimalistic baroque mood. Some of them are very long on the scene and others are light, so as to highlight the complex movement of the choreography without covering the dancers" and added "In several scenes of the show the lights function as extra elements that change the line of the costumes, hence creating new extreme baroque silhouettes".
Below are two sketches of the costumes that Tassos Sofroniou sent me exclusively for the eternal optimist
